Thank You and Springtime Updates

Image
Dear Parents and Caregivers, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents involved in our PTCs. It has been a pleasure connecting with you, and your support is vital to our children's Chinese learning. In March, we continued our exploration of the Unit of Inquiry "Sharing the Planet" by focusing on environmental protection. Through the storybook "幼儿环保翻翻书“ (Environmental Protection Flip Book), the children learned about practical measures we can take in our daily lives to help preserve our environment.  During small group sessions, they engaged in an online game that taught them how to sort recyclable materials.  The following week, we deepened their understanding of recycling by reading "资源回收真好玩“ (Recycling Fun) and discussing the recycling systems in Hong Kong, including the colors of various recycling bins.  Later on, in small groups, the children practiced sorting recyclable materials into the correct bins based on color. Continuing Our 'Sharing the Planet' Journey

Image
Dear Gecko Class Families, What a fantastic few weeks it’s been in the Gecko class! We’ve been continuing our exciting journey through our "Sharing the Planet" unit, and the children have been learning so much about their world and how they can make a difference. Creating Our Earth Art We explored a creative technique using rolling marbles to create beautiful Earth backgrounds. The children were then asked to make a representation of what they care about the most in the world. The results are simply stunning! We were so impressed by their creations that we had to display them for everyone on the K2 floor to enjoy. It’s amazing to see how much love and thought they put into their artwork!         Protecting Animals and Saving Our Planet! A lot of our class cares deeply about animals, so we decided to dive deeper into learning more about them. The children have been curious about different species and their habitats, and we’ve had some wonderful discussions on how ...

How to do it: Teach your child to imagine they are blowing up a balloon or blowing out birthday candles. Inhale deeply through the nose, hold for a second, and then exhale slowly through the mouth. Video Guide:  Try this Balloon Breathing Exercise  to make it interactive. Tip:  You can also use a feather or a pinwheel for visual support—blow on it slowly as they breathe out! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ...

Attention and Focus at Home

Why Attention and Focus Matter in K2  Attention and focus are crucial skills for young children, especially in K2 as they prepare to move into Year 1. In these early years, children are developing the ability to listen, follow instructions, and complete tasks—skills they’ll rely on as they transition to more structured learning environments. The ability to pay attention and focus helps children absorb new information, participate in group activities, and engage in meaningful play. As they grow, these skills lay the foundation for problem-solving, independence, and self-regulation. By nurturing attention and focus at home, you’re giving your child a head start on the skills they’ll need to thrive in Year 1 and beyond. You can easily nurture these skills with some fun and simple activities! Here are some tips and tricks  to guide you on this exciting journey. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *  Practice Short, Focused Activ...
